“Lifted Into the Light” – that’s how this song began. The title just came to me, and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Because that’s exactly what happens when Jesus saves us and gives us eternal life: we are literally lifted into the light. Here on earth, we may not see it with our physical eyes, but with our spiritual eyes, it’s already a reality. And at the end of our lives, when we leave this world, we will see it with our very own eyes as we step into the glory of God. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for that day. I long for the moment when I’ll finally enter the radiant glory of God. But while I’m still here, I want to use the time I’ve been given to be a light in this world—and to tell people about Jesus, the one and only Savior.
This song is filled with poetry—and honestly, I love that. It’s hard for me not to write my songs poetically. Sometimes I try to keep things simple, but it doesn’t always work out. Lifted Into the Light tells the story of what happens when we choose to believe the lie over the light. Adam and Eve believed the lie, and from that moment on, human history took a dramatic turn. The result was death. God never intended that for us, but sin always comes with a price. Just look around: murder, greed, selfishness, immorality, lies, betrayal - these things drag us deeper into darkness. They’re deceptions we eventually give ourselves over to. But God has nothing to do with that. He is holy and just, and He calls us to live holy lives as well.
The song paints a clear picture of what happens when we give in to the lie. And let’s be real—the lie has a name: Satan, the enemy of God. But that’s not the end of the story. This song also speaks of redemption. Because if you’re walking in darkness, chained by sin, but deep inside you’re crying out for freedom, hear me: God hears your cry. The sound of those chains clinking reaches His throne. And He will come to help you—just as He has done for countless people throughout history. Why? Because God is love. He doesn’t look at appearances - He looks straight into your heart. And He longs to pour out His mercy on you.
So if you’re longing to be free from the chains that hold you captive, call out to Him. Jesus died for your sins - He paid the price in full. His invitation is open to everyone - including you. Say yes to Him, and you’ll experience heaven opening over you, His hand reaching out, lifting you out of the darkness. Experience what it means to be lifted into the light by Jesus. It truly is the most precious gift there is.
You can listen to the song here. And if you’d like to read along or sing along – here are the full lyrics to Lifted Into The Light:
When I believed the lie more than the light
My life fell into darkness
It bound me to eternal death
But that was never Your plan for me
Jesus, You lifted me into the light
You freed my soul from the darkness of night
Now I shine, through You alone
You, most beautiful Light for all eternity
I wandered lost through the realm of shadows
Without light and no way out
The chains of sin weighed heavily on me
Yet their clinking rose to Your throne
Jesus, You lifted me into the light
You freed my soul from the darkness of night
Now I shine, through You alone
You, most beautiful Light for all eternity
Crushed by sorrow and lost
I beheld a heavenly light
A hand reached out to me
And carried me out of the darkest night
Jesus, You lifted me into the light
You freed my soul from the darkness of night
Now I shine, through You alone
You, most beautiful Light for all eternity
The cloak of death had to flee
In You I am safe and loved
On wings of freedom
My heart overflows with love for You
Jesus, You lifted me into the light
You freed my soul from the darkness of night
Now I shine, through You alone
You, most beautiful Light for all eternity
You lifted me into the light
In the light of Your love I am forever safe
My heart shines through You
You, most beautiful Light for all eternity
