The title of my song, “Kissed by His Holy Name,” was chosen very intentionally from the beginning. The word “kissed” carries an incredible intimacy within it, something tender that reaches deep into the soul. It describes a closeness that goes far beyond what we usually associate with a kiss. I myself am a sensitive, romantic person, and I often feel that we don’t truly perceive how tender our God is with us.

When I think back to the birth of my children, I see those tiny, fragile, delicate beings in my arms. I remember how I caressed them lovingly, how I poured out my care and love on them, how I protected them and showed them affection. From birth, they carry our name – they belong to us. And it is the same with Jesus. We carry His name, we belong to Him, and He meets us with infinite tenderness, with patience, grace, mercy, strength, joy, and care.

By “kissed,” I mean a deep inner touch that goes far beyond an ordinary kiss. God touches us in a way no human ever could. He gives life in abundance, awakens souls that walk in darkness and are captive, and His passion for us is so great that we can hardly comprehend it. While writing this song, I was especially moved by the words from Luke 4:18–19: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed, and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” These verses inspired me deeply, and their elements found their way into the lyrics.

I intentionally wanted to write this song in the third person — to tell who He is, what He does, to show His heartbeat and mercy, and to make this closeness and love audible to others. In the bridge, it then switches to the first person to praise and worship Him directly.

The song exists in both an English and a German version. In the German version there are two small quirks: the AI pronounces the “J” in “Jesus” like an American “J,” and at the very end a word appears that I hadn’t intended. Even so, I love both versions equally.

The thought of not releasing the song because of a few small mistakes made me very sad. I tried to create a better version with the AI, but I simply couldn’t succeed. At some point, I gave up — but because this song is so close to my heart, I decided to release it anyway.

In the end, it’s not perfection that matters, but the truth and love we share. I hope this song touches you too, reminds you of His nearness, and invites you to let yourself be carried by His tenderness.

You can listen to the song here. And if you’d like to read along or sing along – here are the full lyrics to "Kissed By His Holy Name":

His light breaks through the night

And carries eternity within

He searches with pure passion

For hearts that are lost

Kissed – so deep that the soul awakes

Kissed – and carried by grace

Kissed – by the One who saves

Kissed – by His holy name

Like golden rain
He pours out his mercy
On souls that are captive
And breaks their chains - through his love

Kissed – so deep that the soul awakes

Kissed – and carried by grace

Kissed – by the One who saves

Kissed – by His holy name

He wears the radiance
Full of majesty and glorious splendor
A holy beam of light
That makes even the blind see

Kissed – so deep that the soul awakes

Kissed – and carried by grace

Kissed – by the One who saves

Kissed – by His holy name

He spreads his love
Over broken hearts,
Driving away the darkness
With his radiant glory

Kissed – so deep that the soul awakes

Kissed – and carried by grace

Kissed – by the One who saves

Kissed – by His holy name

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

You have awakened my soul

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

I dance in Your light

Tenderly kissed

By Your holy name

Kissed – so deep that the soul awakes

Kissed – and carried by grace

Kissed – by the One who saves

Kissed – by His holy name

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

You have tenderly kissed me

By Your holy name
